Extensive environmental controls will be discussed with all patients after their allergy testing is complete. In most instances, environmental controls alone will not ease allergy symptoms. Allergy immunotherapy is a proven effective treatment for allergic rhinitis, allergic asthma and also may be effective in some individuals with atopic dermatitis (eczema) if  allergies to airborne allergens are found. Immunotherapy serum is created for each patient specifically based on their allergy test results. Immunotherapy can potentially lead to lasting remission of allergy symptoms, and it may play a preventive role in the development of asthma and new allergies.

Allergy immunotherapy is a long term investment in your health that requires dedication and consistency to achieve the full benefits. While symptom relief can be achieved in the first few months of treatment, studies have shown that it takes a commitment of about 3 years to achieve the full, long lasting results.
